Our Mission: to provide a place for Green Bay Packer fans to meet and share in the excitement of Green Bay Packer football. We invite family participation to build camaraderie with all Packer fans. We strive for the means to regularly "give back" to our community, and of course, have the most fun possible while practicing the traditions of the best sports franchise in football - the GREEN BAY PACKERS.
CHPH "gives back" to the community as sponsors of the Santana Dotson Foundation. Santana's foundation provides extended education for under-privileged Houston students. In 1998, CHPH raised $1000 for the foundation. CHPH members donated over $4000 in sponsorships for Santana's 1999 Celebrity Softball Weekend and spent over $2000 at the silent auction.
CHPH is also a participant in the Texas Adopt-A-Highway program.
Promoting camaraderie within the membership is vital. CHPH is made up of professional men and women and as such, CHPH strives to present a professional image in each endeavor. In addition to our newsletter, regular contact with all members is maintained through email and snail-mail mailings. We organize off-season events to keep the CHPH family together. We have made a number of group outings - Astro's games, Ren Fest, picnics, bowling get-togethers and of course, our infamous tailgate parties. 1999 will bring "road trips" to New Orleans and Dallas.
In the beginning, CHPH was the dream of a group of Packer fans that met regularly to watch the games, but it wasn't until post-Superbowl, 1997 that their dream came true. That's when they organized and finally decided to get the ball got a-rollin'. The small group of masterminds recruited other Packer fans and the rest his history. By the end of the 1998-1999 season, the membership exploded to almost 200 (183 to be exact) dues-paying members. CHPH took a close 2nd place to Mabel Murphy's (Scottsdale, AZ) in the America's Pack 1998 membership contest. Watch out Murphy's, we'll get you in 1999!
Just having fun on game days is paramount. We try to recreate the Lambeau atmosphere (without the snow) with Packer music, cheers, cuisine, and even Brooks' Lambeau Leap. Just like Lambeau, each game kicks off with "Are You Ready to Rumble?" and ends with "The Packerena" and "We Are the Champions". Waving pom-poms add to the sea of green and gold clad patrons. Wisconsin vernacular runs wild on game days, don't cha know? Even native Texans can be heard saying "for cry-yey-yey" while enjoying their Wisconsin cuisine of brats, kraut, German potato salad, beer (including Leinenkugel's) and blackberry brandy. Polkas and weekly $1 raffles for baskets filled with Packer goodies add to the excitement.
